The best from both sides…
We feel MOST Americans agree with the best ideas from both parties. Below is a visual representation what we agree with from each party.
This is the foundation of the Center Party platform:
Specific policies will be up to the candidates, but overall The Center Party supports the following principles:
- A LEAN & EFFICIENT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT – we need to enforce smart spending and reduce government waste, and leave more fiscal responsibility to large employers, private charities and the states.
- PRODUCTIVITY IN CONGRESS – The Center Party’s mere existence will foster this. Right now a 50/50 Congress can’t get anything done. Bipartisan needs to become TRIpartisan. Imagine a 33/34/33 congress – it will be easy to get to a majority and common sense legislation most Americans support will get passed!
- AMERICAN JOB PROTECTION – regulating automation and offshoring and implementing training programs to ensure all Americans can get a good paying job and a career path.
- WEALTH DISTRIBUTION for those who EARN it (the key word being earn) – enable the possibility for the working class and middle class to accumulate wealth.
- REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE RIGHTS for women nationwide – leave healthcare decisions up to women and their doctors. This is too important to be left up to the States.
- SMART GUN REGULATION – all American’s have the right to a firearm for hunting or self-protection. But those firearms should be in the hands of responsible, sane adults. And we should not have citizens armed with military-style automatic assault rifles, or any other mechanisms that make mass killings easier. Most people agree on this – why can’t we pass the laws?
- ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE CAPITALISM – we’re all for free markets and capitalism, but we can’t destroy our planet and wipe out the human race in the process.
- SMART MEDIA REGULATION. We’re all for free speech, but NEWS (facts) and OPINION must be clearly delineated. News must contain truth, and not be selective, and not shield people from the truth. Spreading disinformation, lies and falsehoods must have severe consequences for media stakeholders and sponsors. This includes social media platforms and influencers.
- RELIGION AND MONEY OUT OF POLITICS – A government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Remember that? Large private donors, super pacs,& religious groups should not control our elected leaders who are supposed to represent all of us.
- EQUAL REPRESENTATION FOR ALL – Create a government where all people are represented equally. This includes:
- A POPULATION-BASED SENTATE, with term limits: Do you think there’s equal representation in Washington?
Right now:- Wyoming: 1 U.S. Senator for every 288,869 people
- California: 1 U.S. Senator for ever 19,778,523 people
So congratulations, Wyomingans, your total population is less than metro Fresno, but your voice is represented in Congress 6,800% more than people from California.
- ELIMINATING GERRYMANDERED VOTING DISTRICTS and combat voter suppression efforts. It should be easy for everyone to vote, and district maps should be approved by a politically neutral body with all parties equally represented.
- ELIMINATING THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE – the candidate with the most votes should win the election, and everyone’s vote should be equally important – isn’t that what a democracy is? Right now every presidential election is determined by a handful of states (Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada). This system is ridiculous and needs to be fixed.
- EXPANDING THE SUPREME COURT, and imposing ethics rules and term limits – why do 9 politically appointed people have so much control over the entire country? The Supreme Court should be at least 15 judges, they should be elected by the people and have term limits.
- A POPULATION-BASED SENTATE, with term limits: Do you think there’s equal representation in Washington?
Our platform will be based on YOUR feedback!
The Center Party is the party of the people! A political party is supposed to represent the principles, needs and desires of it’s MEMBERS. You drive the party – not the other way around. So what you’ve read on this page is a starting point – some things that we feel are the philosophies of the ideological Center. However this is an ongoing dialogue. Have something to add? Disagree with something? Have something to educate us about? That’s great! Join us today or provide your feedback!
